Before starting as a consultant, Richard worked at YSI Incorporated, a $50 million company that develops sensors for biotechnology, aerospace, medicine, and water pollution monitoring. At YSI, he led the team that created all the marketing communications—ads, brochures, direct mail, newsletters, trade show exhibits, videos—for a diverse product line. YSI sells its products around the world, which means creating marketing material in other languages. An often-heard compliment was that the high quality of its marketing communications made YSI seem like a large company.
